Saying Goodbye

Twelve years ago you had come into my life so quickly.

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was baby sitting my Aunt Cindy's 3 grandsons. On their little "farm" they had the usual strays running around but, this time two of them had 3 adorable kittens. The two males were mostly main coon, black, and fluffy and then their sister was a white and grey tabby. Origionally my Uncle Larry had named her Neusance because she was quite literally into everything. One cold, snowy day, I opened my car door to grab my bags because I was finally heading home. My Aunt Cindy had made me homemade vegtable soup and i put it in my car before my bags. On my way home, I hear this tiny little meow coming from my backseat.

I pull over my car and I look in my back seat and there you were, just sitting on top of the vegtable soup container. I was already 3/4 of the way home and decided that I would just take you back in a couple of days when they needed me to come back again. Those 3 days we spent time, I took care of you, and you annoyed the shit out of me (lol) but I loved you anyway. I did end up taking you back to the farm because I already had a cat named Baby (Melody). My mom didn't believe me that you just "jumped in my car" until you did the exact same thing to her 3 days later. I remember my mom going inside of my Aunt Cindys house and coming back out with you. She handed you to me and said "Merry Christmas".

That was the start of one of the most purest feeling of love that I have ever had.

We grew so close over the year and I would say about the last 4 years were our closest. You knew it was bed time and when I got settled laying down, you would climb up on my side, put your paws over my shoulder, and lay your head down so that we would sleep cheek-to-cheek. Your purring always comforted me at night and helped me fall asleep faster. You would let me lay my head on you, never getting annoyed, but just scooching to get even more comfortable. You knew when I was sick or sad and would always be there to comfort me. We were insepperable. Insepperable until we were forced to ceperate under devistating circumstances.

April 15th, 2024 was one of the worst days of my life.

It was just a normal day. I was getting my keys and I was about to leave to pick up Cyan from somewhere she was at. I remember opening the sliding glass doors and I was smiling up at the sunshine. I took a couple more steps and I saw you laying in the road. At first I called out to you saying "Daisy girl" completely ignoring the blood on the road and around your mouth. I was in disbelief, until I wasn't. You had been hit by a car that day. I remember yelling at Adam to grab me a towel, something, anything. While he was inside, I put my head to your

body and I couldn't hear a heart beat. I remember breaking down so hard and just screaming because the golden thread that was woven between us had been severed. My familiar, my best friend, was gone. I got the towel from Adam, I wrapped you in it, and picked you up. I just sat in the road holding you, crying for you, and screaming about you being gone. Finally, I stood out of the road and carried you into the breezeway while my mom looked for a box to put you in. Lowering you into that box made my heart shatter all over again because the reality had truly set in. My girl, was gone.

The other cats mourned you as well.

I believe that Willow saw it happen. She wasn't okay for quite a few days. They both were looking for you and wondered where you went. Recently, we got this picture of Mia and Willow. Mia is laying on Baby's grave and Willow is sitting on Daisy's. I like to think that they come to visit you both often.

I think about you often, every day, muliple times a day.

It's true what they say. Pet's aren't just pets, they're family. I really truly felt like my best friend was gone, forever, and way to soon. I got pissed at the person who just ran you over and left you laying there without saying a single word. I had so much anger and pain when you died. Now, I just think to myself the rainbrow bridge can't come soon enough for us to finally reunite again. I'll meet you there and we can cuddle once again.

I miss you Daisy May and I always will
